What the Heck is UP?

Fast forward to Summer 2023!

Welcome Dave Helmer (Crystal City) to Natural Habits on electric guitar and welcome back (a 2nd time) to Adam Grosso!

The last time we posted, we shared that we had Adam Grosso back with us - but on keys instead of bass. Due to new unexpected commitments, Adam had to step away from the band just after Camp Euforia in 2022. Things have flip-flopped around a bit yet again and we now say goodbye to Dennis Wendt, our bassist since 2008 (minus my hiatus to LA). Dennis has decided it's time to move on to spending more time with the fam and on his own music, which he has very little time for. It's been a pleasure to play with our gentle giant for all the years we've been making music together. We support you and will miss you bro!

Just before Dennis's departure we picked up Dave Helmer (Crystal City) to play electric guitar and bring his songwriting skills to the band. Dave has already been adding new flavors and dimensions to the tunes and we couldn't be happier about that.  With Dennis leaving and things settling down for Adam, we gave him a call and asked him to come back as our bassist (OG!). We are stoked to get Adam on stage whenever we can and can't wait to get some more shows lined up for you to hear the new lineup and tunes.

We lost a dear friend to our music community this spring and in honor of his dedication to our Iowa City Musician Family we threw a 2 day event at Gabes - TrevorFest, that will now be an annual show. The new live recording we have just released (July 5, 2023) is from that show on May 26th. Another recording with The Trollies will also be coming soon but that's for another day.

We were pleased to be asked to play Iowa City Pride Fest again this year and it was a great show! We hope some of you were there to catch it. Keep an eye out for upcoming shows this fall!

Old News

OMG IT'S POST PANDEMIC!!! And I get to officially tell you, ADAM GROSSO (The Trollies, Euforquestra, Grosso Family Band) has joined the Habits on keyboards! This man is a beast. He started teaching himself keys during the pandemic and is already burning up the board with some really tasty textures and tones. We couldn't be more thrilled to have (we call him) Dickens back in the band in this new capacity. We will be unveiling his talents and some new tunes on June 24th for our first live show post-pandemic at Frauenholtz-Miller Park - see the shows tab for more info! I am digging around for some new places for us to play as well. If there is some little cool spot that has live music on the weekend afternoons, coffee shops, wineries, any non-traditional venues that you'd like to see us play, please hit us up! You can email me directly (Nikki...) at naturalhabitsband@gmail.com
